Kansas City Women in Technology (KCWiT) is hosting DjangoFest, a one-day, free co-ed programming workshop on January 27, 2024. This workshop introduces beginners to the fundamentals of Django, a framework based on the Python programming language. Participants will have the opportunity to build their first web application using HTML, CSS, Python, and Django.
This is the 7th year for KCWiT to host the workshop for women and all underrepresented groups in technology to learn to build a website using Django, marking a milestone of KCWiT’s commitment in fostering a supportive environment in Kansas City’s tech community.
“While KCWiT is focused on growing the number of women in technology, there are many underrepresented groups in the tech sector. This year we are pleased to open the workshop to any individual, regardless of how they identify, because we have seen so much interest from the local community,” says Tamara Copple, DjangoFest Director. “DjangoFest is an inclusive, safe environment to try something new with support from our mentors, who are developers already. It also gives attendees a valuable opportunity to network and build connections that could lead to a job one day.”
The workshop provides participants with a foundational understanding of Django, a widely-used framework for web development. Participants will delve into the basics of Python, a versatile programming language crucial not only in web development but also in the study of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
The workshop is open to individuals aged 14+ of all gender and backgrounds, whether students, career-changers, or tech enthusiasts looking to broaden their skill set. Limited seats are available, light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
